Lakers' winning streak reaches 70

SKANEATELES - The Skaneateles girls cross country team got its 70th straight league win dating back to 1992 as they beat CBA 20-39 on Wednesday.
Jessica O'Neill finished first (15:57), followed by Zandra Walton (16:41) in third.

Christina Homeyer was fourth (16:52), Rachel Vaivoda was fifth (17:06), and Stephanie Searing was seventh (17:43) to round out the Lakers' top finishers.

Skaneateles (4-0) races in the Phoenix Invitational on Saturday.

Cato-Meridian 21, Port Byron Inc

PORT BYRON - Lisa Cole placed first (21:42) as the Blue Devils defeated the Panthers.

Brittany Kalaben placed third (24:13), Maggie McCurdy was fourth (24:17), Cheryl Allen was sixth (24:59), and Olivia Farnsworth and Liz Cook tied seventh (25:03).

For the Panthers, Katie Jacobs was second (22:25), Aya Takahashi was fifth (24:58), and Leslie Anne Pritchard was ninth (25:43).

Weedsport 17, Hannibal 43

AUBURN - Chelsea Gibson placed first (22:15) in the Warriors' win.

Allison Earl was second (23:26), Kristen Rosa was third (23:41), Katie Scarbrough was fifth (24:34), and Colleen McKenzie was sixth (24:58) to round out the Warriors' top finishers.

EAST SYRACUSE - Amanda Kazanivsky came in first (19:53) for the 20th-state-ranked Maroons.

Rosie Scheibel (21:00) and Liz Calandro (21:11) came in third and fourth. Tiffany Palmer was seventh (21:43) and Ellie Rohrer was eighth (22:03).

Auburn (4-1) runs in the Manhattan Invitational on Saturday

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Weedsport 16, Hannibal 43

AUBURN - Kevin Schwarting placed first (19:16) as the Warriors improved to 2-2.

Sean Daly was second (19:18), Jimmy Bos was third (19:37), Alex Baker was fourth (19:47), and Jonathon Edmunds was sixth (20:03).

PORT BYRON - Kevin Kassel came in first (18:07) for the Blue Devils. Paul Navarro was third (19:00), Brian Wegman was fourth (19:24), and Nate and Brian Modafferi were fifth and sixth (21:07).

For the Panthers, Matt Vitale was second (18:26). Michael Elia (22:01), Gregg Miraglia (22:18), and Brian Carey (30:00) finished seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively.
