ONEONTA - David Purcey's first professional win was one to remember as the Blue Jays' top pick hurled six perfect innings as the Auburn Doubledays beat the Oneonta Tigers, 4-3 in a New York-Penn League game at Damaschke Field on Wednesday night.
Purcey, from the University Oklahoma showed why he was a first-round pick in last June's amateur draft. He retired all 18 batters he faced and struck out five.
Auburn leads Tri City by three games for the NY-P's best record.
Ryan Klosterman and Adam Lind paced the Doubledays' offense as each had three hits.
Klosterman doubled in Auburn's first run with a third-inning double and later added a solo home run in the fifth.
Lind doubled twice and scored on Joey Metropoulos' RBI that made it 4-0 Auburn in the sixth.
The Tigers rallied with three runs in the seventh as Juan llamas doubled in a pair off Auburn reliever Kristian Bell.
New pitcher Joey McLaughlin allowed another run but ended the threat and tossed a scoreless eighth.
Scott Roy struck out two in the ninth for his fourth save of the season.
