AUBURN - Adeline Mazza Marventano, 93, of 151 Van Anden St., Auburn passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Anthony and Michellina Mazza and had been an area resident for most of her life. Adeline was a longtime communicant of St. Aloysius Church where she was very involved in numerous church functions. Upon the closing of St. Aloysius Church, Adeline became a member of Holy Family Church. She cherished the many hours spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adeline was an avid New York Mets fan and one of her greatest joys was attending her first World Series in 2000 against her arch nemesis New York Yankees.
She is survived by her three loving sons, Donald C. (Dorothy) of Fla., V. James (Janet) of Rochester, William J. (Debbie) of Auburn; four sisters, Grace Carifa of Brooklyn, Mary (Joseph) Genova of Yonkers, Frances Di Lillo of Brooklyn and Gloria Brennan of Fla.; two brothers, Vincent of Florida and Anthony of Tenn., six grandchildren, Judith Kling, James, David, Richard, Anthony and Joseph Marventano; three great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Sean Kling and Rachel Marventano; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent "Jim" in 1991 and a sister, Josephine.
Friends are invited to join the family at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Church for Adeline's Mass of Christian burial with the Rev. James C. Burke, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Adeline's memory to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive., Auburn, NY 13021.
