Thomas J. Ogar

AUBURN - Thomas J. Ogar, 85, of Oakridge Road, Auburn died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ogar was born on Prince Edward Island, the son of the late Walter and Molly Ogar.

He faithfully served his country from 1941 to 1945 in the U. S. Army and then returned to Auburn to become the owner/operator of T.J. Optician in Auburn for over 30 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, Owasco Yacht Club, and a life member of the Cayuga County Sportsman Club. He was also a member of the Cayuga County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his dedicated volunteer service. He held the position of president of the Optical Guild of New York State and the New York State Optical Society for many years. He was also a commander of the Power Squadron in Auburn.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elsie Reed Ogar of Owasco; one son, Robert J. Ogar and his wife, Linda of Owasco; one daughter, Cynthia Cuykendall and her husband, Karl of Niles and three grandchildren, Patrick and Jennifer Ogar and Mark Cuykendall.
