FORT MYERS, Fla. - Joan Van Wie, a former resident of Auburn, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at her Fort Myers, Fla. home.
An Auburn native, she was born on Feb. 20, 1940, the daughter of Glenn and Ervia Rose Van Wie. A graduate of East High School and the state university of Oswego, she had retired as an elementary school teacher from the City of Auburn School System. After her retirement in 1988, she relocated to Fort Myers, Fla. While in Auburn, she was a member of the Elks and Moose Clubs Auxiliaries.
She is survived by her children, Mark D. (Gina) Mc Carthy of Delmar, Michael J. (Lorri) Mc Carthy of Albany and William E. Mc Carthy of Delmar; grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Hannah, Tyler and Haley Mc Carthy; one niece, Diane Boehler; three nephews, Charles, Jeffery and Stephen Boehler; seven grandnieces, Christine and Jane Kaufman, Katherine, Erica, Lindsay, Emily and Sara Boehler; Win and Carolyn Boehler of Auburn. She was predeceased by Donald Mc Carthy in June, 1999.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Farrell's Funeral Service with the Rev. Philip Windsor, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Soule Cemetery, Sennett. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn.
