Catonsville, Md. - The Cayuga Community College women's lacrosse team opened its season with a 7-5 victory over Hartford (Md.) on Saturday.
It was the first time in nine tries Cayuga had beaten a team from Maryland.
Sara Scollan led the Spartans with three goals. Laura Dorsey added a pair of goals and a pair of assists. Stephanie Donegan had a goal and an assist and Krissy Welch scored a goal.
Goalie Erin Hopkins came up with 13 saves.
Cayuga, the fourth-ranked team in the country, plays No. 1 Catonsville (Md.) today.
