SENNETT - The Union Springs man accused of raping a Cayuga County woman in his Grove Street home on Jan. 17 is scheduled for a preliminary extradition hearing Monday in Florida.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff's Department, the hearing for David M. Condes, 37, will in Broward County.

Condes is wanted by Cayuga County authorities on a 12-count felony arrest warrant.

Condes can waive a formal hearing, which would be in about a month, and have deputies bring him back.

But if he requests a formal hearing, he would remain in jail in Broward County until then.

Condes is accused of raping a local woman he knows and then fleeing to Florida.

The sheriff's department criminal investigation team worked with the U.S. Marshall's Service and Miami Shores Police to apprehend him while leaving a grocery store last week.

Within a day or two of the incident, authorities determined Condes left the area in an attempt to avoid arrest.

Condes, who works as an electrician, once lived in Auburn.
