AUBURN - Micalena "Mickey" Pronti Sofo, 78, of 69 Washington St., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, in Auburn Memorial Hospital, with her loving family at her side.
A native of Manchester, Mickey had lived in Auburn for the past 60 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the former Sons of Italy Lodge.
She owned and operated Sofo Amusement Co. with her husband, Joseph A. Sofo Sr., for 56 years.
She was the Show People's Association Work Horse of the Year in 1981. She was also a trustee, show person and past president of the New York State Show People's Association in 1986.
She was the daughter of the late Dominick and Matilda Pronti.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph A. Sofo Sr.; two sons, Mercurio "Mike" Sofo and Roland Sofo, and one daughter, Theresa Ferguson, all of Auburn; two brothers, Mario and Alfred Pronti of Rochester; a sister, Louise Leone of Florida; five grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Roland and Ryan Sofo and Martin Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Brendon Sofo; and several nieces and nephews.
Mickey was predeceased by a brother, Angelo Pronti; and two sisters, Catherine Cinanni and Mary Cordello.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial to be offered 10 a.m. Thursday, in St. Mary's Church. Calling hours are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, at the Cheche Funeral Home, 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mickey was called "Ma" by so many, and will be sadly missed.
