AUBURN - Mrs. Rose A. Byrne Wilson, 83, of Stryker Avenue, Auburn, died Sept. 9, 2003, at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Auburn, the daughter of James and Georgia Merritt Byrne, and was a founding member of Sacred Heart Church. She had retired in 1985, after 35 years as an aide at Mercy Hospital.
She is survived by two children, Sharon Romano of Owasco, and Joseph G. Wilson Jr. and his wife Avis of Moravia; six grandchildren, James P. Romano and his wife Michelle of Chittenango, Christopher L. Romano of Stowe, Vt., Lisa Sloan of Auburn, Colleen A. Chapman of Moravia, Kelly Horn and her husband Matthew of Locke, and Catrina H. Roberson of Baldwinsville; five great-grandchildren, Ashton and Nichole Sloan, Jordan Wilson, and Gabrielle and Chamberlin Horn; a brother and sister, James Byrne and his wife Julie of Auburn, and Betty Abbott and her husband Lea of Auburn; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father and mother; her husband in 1992, Joseph G. Wilson Sr.; a granddaughter in 1999, Jessica L. Roberson; and a sister, Virginia Cammuso.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming.
