SYRACUSE - Stephanie Szul, 82, of Syracuse, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Temopol Oblast, Ukraine, she retired from Onondaga Savings Bank in 1985, where she worked for 31 years. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society, The Mother's Club, where she was a past parish Mother of the Year, and the Women's Organization for the Defense of the Four Freedoms of Ukraine.
Her husband Nicholas died in 1971.
She is survived by three sons, Walter Szul of Parish, Roman Szul of Camillus and Myron Szul of Auburn; one sister, Bernice Melnyczuk of Syracuse; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, from the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home, 1609 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. The Sacred Heart Society will recite the Rosary at 3:45 p.m., and the Panakhyda Service will be held at 7 p.m. today.
