AUBURN - Tim Gaffney had 14 points to lead St. Alphonsus over Sts. Peter & Paul, 55-28, in CYO eighth grade basketball last weekend.
Mike Assman added 11 and J.D. Carve had nine. Neal Recchio had 16 points for Sts. Peter & Paul.
Nate Wayne dumped in 22 points as Holy Family cruised past St. Hyacinth's/St. Francis 74-34. Harvey Simmons pitched in with 19, Mike McNabb had 11, and Mark Lawson had eight. Frank Cereo had 14 and Kristy Hurd had nine for St. Hyacinth's/St. Francis.
Sacred Heart cruised past St. Mary's 49-19. Brandon DeBagio led all scorers with 10, while Ryan Gleason had eight. T.J. Dygert had eight for St. Mary's.
5th & 6th Grade Boys
After scoring only two points in the first quarter, St. Alphonsus came out roaring for a 26-15 over Holy Family. Chris Guter led St. A's with 17 points, with Mike Gordon adding seven. Shawn Wayne was Holy Family's high scorer with nine points.
Sacred Heart II defeated St. Francis/St. Hyacinth's, 25-8. Mike Fallat and Nick Kieznowski led Sacred Heart II with six points each, with Justin Smith adding five points. A.J. Spinelli scored four points for St. Francis/St. Hyacinth.
Sacred Heart I remained undefeated with a 28-4 win over Sts. Peter & Paul. Brian Moore and Megan Cahill each scored eight points in the victory, with John Fiermonte contributing six. Tom Giannettino led St. Peter & Paul with four points.
In the battle of the St. Mary's teams, St. Mary's I won 32-20 over St.Mary's II. Tim Locastro led the winners with 13 points, with Tyler Garafalo adding six and Pat O'Donovan with five. Pat Townsend led St. Mary's II with eight points and Josh Allen added six.

Georgetown defeated Villanova 12-5. Lindsay Artman and Katie Lupo each scored four points for Georgetown, with Sara Wild scoring four points for Villanova.
