WEEDSPORT - Mr. Leonard L. Church, 49, of 8860 South Willow St., Weedsport, formerly of Montezuma, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Church was born in Cortland, April 8, 1953. Mr. Church drove trucks for many years for the Jackson Potato Farms in Savannah and Cayuga Boat Haulers in Cayuga. He enjoyed spending time by the water and was an avid outdoors man enjoying both fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mrs. Sharon A. Church; his mother, Katherine Durgan of Weedsport; two sons, Shawn Church and his wife Shannon of Conquest and Gregory Church and his wife, Amy of Montezuma; a daughter, Christine Roberts of Clarksville, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Lee and her husband, Hugh of Cayuga; two stepsons, Edward Chapman Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Cayuga and Eric Chapman and his wife, Heather of Port Byron; three brothers, Stanley Church of Weedsport, John Church and his wife, Lorelie of Auburn and Timothy Carey and his wife, Marlene of Weedsport; three sisters, Charlene Russett and her husband, Joe, Brenda Jones and her husband, Bruce of Auburn and Tammy Hosington of Weedsport; a brother-in-law, James Aitkens and his wife, Patty of Montezuma; seven grandchildren, Jesse, Erika, Shauna and Nicholas Lee, Ashley Chapman, Allyn and Kassandra Piatt Chapman; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.Mr. Church was predeceased by his father, Lorenzo Church in 1978 and his brothers Kenneth in 1992 and Donald in 1997.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. The Rev. Doug Wallace will officiate.
